No visitor should miss Bali’s many traditional Joged and Legong dances, Barong performances, or excerpts from the great Hindu dance-drama, the Ramayana. Most large hotels stage performances nightly. For Barong, head for the open-air performances held every morning at Batubulan, northeast of the city centre. Wayang kulit shows (a traditional form of puppet theatre) are also performed frequently at many hotels and art centres.

Second only to Parisian Louvre in the calibre of its collection, Lille's Fine Arts Museum (Palais des Beaux Arts) contains works by assorted great masters, the likes of Rubens and Manet. The basement level holds archaeological finds and miniature representations of the region's 18th-century fortified settlements.

The National Botanical Garden of Georgia in Tbilisi covers an area of 161 hectares in the foothills behind Narikala Fortress and contains a collection of over 4,500 different plant groups. An arched bridge built over a waterfall provides a magnificent view on the Tsavkisistskali river and the garden.

The town of Santa Teresa Gallura is situated on the northernmost tip of the island and has stunning views over the straits of Bonifacio to the island of Corsica. Rena Bianca is the town’s beach, and you can find it only a stone’s throw from the centre, with turquoise water and flour-fine sand. Just to the west, on the headland Capo Testa, there are two beaches. The left hand side is beautiful and ideal for children, and the beach on the right is also beautiful with amazing rock formations. Ferries leave daily for a 50 minute trip to cross the Straits to the town of Bonifacio, in Corsica. This is perfect for a great day out, having French lunch and doing some shopping.
