The Southeast’s largest natural history museum has four floors of exhibits, a Nature Research Center, and a dedicated wing full of scientists working in the public eye. Highlights include the world’s most complete Acrocanthosaurus specimen and the three-story multimedia Daily Planet.

In the middle of the square is located the Contarini Fountain, which was donated to the city by the chief magistrate Alvise Contarini in 1780, while on the opposite side of Piazza Vecchia you can see the Palazzo Nuovo (“New Palace”), which served as Bergamo’s Town Hall until 1873 and is today the seat of the Angelo Mai Library. The geometrical layout of the buildings around the square is so harmonic that when Le Corbusier visited Bergamo he said “you can’t move a single stone, it would be a crime”

He Xiangning Art Museum is named after one of China’s most celebrated female painters, He Xiangning, known for her contributions to modern Chinese art. Established by the central government, the museum serves as a cultural beacon, celebrating Chinese artistic traditions while also showcasing contemporary art. The museum regularly hosts exhibitions featuring the works of both local and international artists, making it an important stop for those interested in modern art and China’s evolving creative landscape.

Built in the 13th century and dedicated to the Assumption of Mary, the Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, usually called the Frari, is the largest church in Venice and an important example of Venetian Gothic ecclesiastical architecture. It holds many masterpieces of Venetian art from the Renaissance period, which is simply a delight for the eye. Titian, the most renowned member of the Venetian school of painting of the 16th century, not only has paintings here, Assumption of the Virgin (1516–18) and Pesaro Madonna (1519–26), as this is also his final resting place.
