Åland has a shoreline numbering an incredible 17,000 km. Beaches lie in all directions. The mildness of the maritime climate and the contrast between calm bays and strong winds creating powerful waves outside the islands mean ideal kite surfing conditions. According to the local kite surfing professional, Patrik Larsson, Åland boasts at least 150 days of good surfing conditions annually. In the summer it's best done on the waves, and in winter in open water further away from the shores. Kite surfing is popular on Åland. Watch the local baseball or football teams Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters and Consadole Sapporo play on their home field. The dome has also been the venue of the 2002 FIFA World Cup and is the planned venue for future Olympic Games and Asian Winter Games as well.

Located about 19 kilometres east of Antalya, you'll find Aspendos. This remarkable theatre is the only one from antiquity that still has its stage structure intact. Originally capable of accommodating 20,000 spectators, its survival is credited to the Seljuks, who repurposed it as a residence. In the 1920s, Kemal Atatürk, revered as the 'Father of the Turks', decided to restore the theatre. Today, Aspendos plays host to major musical events, perpetuating its legacy as a cultural epicentre.

This clock tower is a lasting reminder of Sapporo's comparatively recent past. The wooden building is of American design and one of the few remaining Western-style buildings. It is a witness of the help Sapporo received from the American government in the 1870's when the city was first developed.
