Centennial Olympic Park was built for the 1996 Summer Olympics, but today, it’s a central gathering spot in downtown Atlanta. It’s a great place to take a break while exploring the city, with wide green spaces, walking paths, and the famous Fountain of Rings, where kids (and sometimes adults) cool off in the synchronized water jets. The park also hosts concerts and events throughout the year, so check the calendar if you’re in town. It’s also close to major attractions like the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca-Cola, making it an easy stop while sightseeing.

The Union Station was completed in 1900 and functioned as a passenger terminal until 1979. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the landmark building experienced years of neglect until it was converted into an opulent hotel, detailed with wrought iron and Italian marble. Its lobby features a barrel-vaulted, 65-feet-high ceiling enclosed by stained glass. The station looks spectacular from the outside. If you're not staying at the hotel, you can still enjoy the interior while having drinks or dinner at Ergo restaurant, located inside this historic landmark. Not far from the coast lies the Hugh Taylor Birch State Park with its colorful flora and fauna. Tortoises, squirrels, and various birds can be found among its wildlife. As a visitor, you can explore the park by canoeing in the lagoon, cycling on paved roads, picnicking, or simply hiking among its trees and bushes.
