The mission, one of many built throughout the state of California, was constructed over 200 years ago by Spanish Padres and Native Americans. It is considered not only as the birthplace of Orange County, but also a monument to its diverse cultural heritage. It is also known as the 'Jewel of the Missions.'

An hour-long train ride east from Hofuf Railway Station takes you to the historic fort of Uqair and Uqair Beach—a great destination for a beach day trip from Hofuf. The area is relatively undeveloped, so it’s important to prepare in advance by bringing all necessary supplies, including swimming gear, snacks, and other essentials.

The Friedhof St. Johannis is one of Europe’s most important cemeteries, as a number of famous personalities, such as Albrecht Dürer and Veith Stoss, are buried here. A very beautiful place, it is also known as the “Cemetery of Roses” as a result of the many roses that grow on the site. The cemetery was commissioned as a result of the advanced council order that no longer permitted burials to be performed within the city walls. A defining symbol of the town, built in 1370, Pau Château was the birthplace of Henri IV. The castle became a museum in 1926 and here you will find important collections dedicated to Henri IV as well as the royal apartments.
