Every Sunday, Bogotá closes over 100 kilometres of roads for cars and allows cyclists, roller-skaters and joggers to enjoy the city without traffic. It is a marvellous initiative that brings out the young and the old. Rent a bike and join the fun. Make your way to one of the many parks and join a dance or aerobics class — look up Recreovía for exact time and location. Ciclovía Sundays are a perfect time to make your way north towards the Usaquén flea market.

Klosters is also very well known for its tobogganing - an activity for children and adults alike - and local legend has it that tobogganing was invented here. The four toboggan runs available (Gotschna, Madrisa, Alpenrosli, Aeuja) are free of charge - you just have to pay for toboggan rentals. The Fernleigh Track, part of the decommissioned Adamstown-Belmont coal train line, now serves as a destination for a highly enjoyable 15-kilometre bike ride. The track starts in the centre of Newcastle, at Adamstown train station, and goes through brick tunnels, attractive bushland and wetlands. The track is well-maintained for safe cycling, jogging and walking. The gradients are gentle, as befits an old train line, so there won't be any steep ups and downs. Stop at the Fernleigh Café in Adamstown for a delicious bite before heading back.
