There’s a reason why it’s called Earthquake Park. This is where parts of Anchorage slid into the inlet during the 1964 quake—the strongest ever recorded in North America. A short trail loops through the area, with signs explaining what happened. If you look closely, you can still spot some of the ground shifts and tilted trees. On clear days, there’s a wide view over the water—and sometimes even Denali, the tallest mountain in North America, way off in the distance.

The Tunnel Beach is famous for its unique, picturesque rock formations that offer plenty of material to work with when photographing. Don't miss the man made tunnel leading to the beach made by a local resident.

The defining symbol of Marseille towers on a hilltop 154 metres above the city, with the gilded statue of the Virgin Mary stretching skywards. The views from up here are simply stunning. Take the shuttle for convenience or embark on a just-under-an-hour-long hike up from the old port.

The Natural History Museum is striking even before you step inside, with an architectural design inspired by geological forms that makes it one of Abu Dhabi’s most remarkable buildings. It’s an excellent choice for families, as children will be captivated by the exhibits. Inside, you’ll find meteorites, fossils, dinosaurs and other ancient species, all presented through educational guided tours. The museum leads you through different eras of natural history, emphasising the importance of protecting the planet, one of its core messages.
