Once known as the Convent of the Good Shepherd, the Convent provided refuge for vulnerable women, children and orphans. Nowadays, the convent building and formal gardens play host to events and festivals, workshops and classes, music and theatre performances, and in summer, outdoor cinema. Located on a bend of the Yarra river, the historic site features beautiful and eerie gothic spires of the convent, lush lawns, secluded courtyards and a meticulously restored formal garden. Entry is also free and the garden is open late. Have a beer or even join a team of gardening volunteers.

A must-see attraction — the Tanguy Tower — houses a collection of various exhibits including artefacts and maps that recount the history of Brest. The tower itself is a medieval structure dating back to the 14th century. Its true origins, however, remain unknown.

Maybe you prefer a turn on the dance floor to a dance band in Västerhagen or a gospel concert in Gullbranna? Throughout July, the festival spirit begins when the sun is still high in the sky, and après beach at Solgården in Tylösand is a classic, to say the least.
