This mystic neighbourhood's name literally means "sacred mountain". The place was traditionally occupied by the Gitanos (Romani people). A series of roads winding up the mountain are flanked by caves that are literally carved out of the side of the mountain. They served as the original dwellings for this area's first inhabitants. Many of the caves are still used as houses; others have been converted to restaurants and bars.

Rising 2,704 feet above the Phoenix Valley, Camelback Mountain is an iconic destination for travelers seeking adventure and breathtaking views. The mountain offers two popular hiking trails, each challenging in its own way. The Echo Canyon Trail is shorter but steeper, while the Cholla Trail is longer and slightly less intense, though both demand a good level of fitness and preparation. There are 57 nature reserves within Halmstad Municipality, with different types of flora and fauna.
