Tucked into the hillside just outside Cortona, Le Celle is a small Franciscan hermitage dating back to the 13th century. It’s peaceful, simple, and still run by monks today. Saint Francis stayed here briefly, and you can actually see his old cell. The hermitage is a sight in itself, but also benefits from beautiful surroundings.

The Detroit Institute of Arts is a cultural gem, home to one of the most significant art collections in the United States, spanning over 100 galleries. Highlights include Diego Rivera's iconic Detroit Industry murals, masterpieces by Van Gogh, Picasso, and Rembrandt, and a rich array of African-American art. The museum also showcases works from diverse global traditions, including African, Asian, and Indigenous American art.

Campus Martius Park is the heartbeat of downtown Detroit, hosting the city’s major events year-round. In the summer, it transforms into a lively urban beach, perfect for soaking up the sun. If it’s too chilly for that, don’t worry—during the winter months, the park features a popular ice rink and festive Christmas trees that light up the season.

This giant panoramic work of art spans forty metres in circumference and reaches fourteen metres in height, capturing the small fishing village of Scheveningen as it was in the late nineteenth century in a cyclorama. It creates the illusion that the observer is atop a large sand dune looking down upon the village, an illusion which is complemented by the foreground within the artwork that is made up of artificial terrain. The museum is dedicated to the single work of art from Hendrik Willem Mesdag and there are lots of ways to experience it including a guided tour, lectures and even children’s treasure hunts.
