Perched above the northern coast, the Miradouro da Fonte da Areia offers far‑reaching views of the Ilhéu da Fonte de Areia, the cliffs, and the island’s stark, dramatic landscape. The area takes its name from the abundant sand and the spring once considered sacred by locals. Around you, wind‑shaped sandstone formations, made of shell and algae fragments that eventually formed Porto Santo’s beaches, offer a tangible reminder of the island’s volcanic origins.

Welcome to a meeting place many thousands of years old, which tells a part of the exciting history of Västernorrland. Take in the landscape and the views. Traces of previous generations are especially evident here: burial mounds, an early medieval church ruin, house foundations, roads, and a runestone bear witness to the lives lived here. The exhibition at the Nolby Högar site narrates the area's long history. Here, you can learn about how land uplift has changed the landscape over time and how people have used this place for thousands of years.

Wilhelma is Stuttgart’s unique zoological and botanical garden, set in a 19th-century Moorish-style palace complex built for King Wilhelm I. It’s the only place in Germany that combines a zoo and botanical garden, with around 11,000 animals from roughly 1,200 species, and about 8,500 plant species from all over the world. The grounds are a mix of historic architecture, greenhouses, and themed enclosures like the new Terra Australis area, home to koalas and other Australian species.

The Museum of Fine Arts is definitely a not-to-be-missed attraction, even just for the stunning white building where the museum is set up. Named after the famous sculptor Denys Puech, who lived in the area in the late 19th and early 20th century, this has been a meeting place for modern and contemporary creations since 1989.
