Down on Bali’s southern tip, Uluwatu serves up dramatic cliffs, legendary surf breaks, and some of the island’s best beaches. It’s calmer than Seminyak or Canggu—more about sunsets, sea views, and boutique stays. The Uluwatu Temple is the big draw here, perched on a cliff edge with nightly Kecak dance shows at sunset.

The Friedhof St. Johannis is one of Europe’s most important cemeteries, as a number of famous personalities, such as Albrecht Dürer and Veith Stoss, are buried here. A very beautiful place, it is also known as the “Cemetery of Roses” as a result of the many roses that grow on the site. The cemetery was commissioned as a result of the advanced council order that no longer permitted burials to be performed within the city walls. A new cemetery therefore had to be built in the surrounding area for the northern part of the city. Why not visit the baroque Hesperidengärten afterwards?

Paradise Point is one of the three most enticing viewing stops in Charlotte Amalie. The gondola of the Skyride smoothly takes you up 213 m (700 ft) to an observation area with scenic views of the bay, a restaurant and bar. Try the famed Bushwhacker cocktail to cool down a bit.
