The Alcazaba Monument is a 10th-century fortress with three huge enclosures, gardens, and the Walls of Hayrán extending down the valley to the opposing San Cristobál hill. Warrens of cave houses are cut into the rock below. From here you will have great views of the city and port, not to mention the most legendary sunsets.

Crafted by the skilled hands of Axel Olson, this life-size bronze statue was unveiled in 1959. Serving as a poignant memorial, it honours the over 1 million Swedes who, between 1848 and 1930, left their homeland in pursuit of a better life, escaping the clutches of hunger and poverty. Many embarked on their journey to the United States from the very port of Karlshamn. Olson's masterpiece captures the essence of this historical exodus, portraying Karl Oskar and Kristina gazing out over the sea, symbolizing the hopeful embarkation of countless emigrants on their transformative adventure.

Surrounded by waters as clear as the Caribbean's, in a fishy haven just off the coast of Corsica, the Îles Lavezzi offer intrepid travellers a world of uncharted marvels. This granite straight separating Corsica from Sardinia was the cause of the famous wreckage of Semillante, a French frigate that crashed into the dense reef in 1855.
