The area surrounding Tokyo Skytree represents a modern counterpart to the traditional atmosphere of nearby Asakusa. While the 634-metre tower itself draws visitors with its two observation decks, the district at its base functions as a comprehensive destination. The Tokyo Solamachi complex houses over 300 shops and restaurants, the Sumida Aquarium, and a planetarium. This riverside part of Sumida Ward has been reshaped by the tower's development, creating a commercial hub with plazas and green spaces that offer dramatic perspectives of the structure itself.

Showcasing flora species from all across Denmark (and the world), the Aarhus Botanical Gardens are a great place to visit regardless of the weather - the green spaces are good for a picnic or a BBQ during the summertime, and the covered greenhouses provide a welcome respite from the elements throughout the rest of the year.

Celebrated Luxembourgish architect François Valentiny inaugurated this peculiar crisp-white building in Remerschen in late 2016 as a space to showcase his own and partner Hubert Hermann's artistic creations (over 3000 permanent exhibits). The permanent collection is regularly complemented by exhibitions featuring works by other artists.

The belfry of Lille's Hôtel de Ville shoots up a hundred metres into the sky, and is accessible via both stairs and an elevator (the latter means of reaching the top is recommended). From up top, a splendid view unfolds over the entire city, including a few local landmarks (although admittedly little of the old town).
