The centrepiece of La Palma's incredible National Park is Caldera de Taburiente, a 10-kilometre wide crater, whose walls tower up to 2,000 metres over the caldera floor. An extended period of erosion caused the soil to sink, creating an enormous pit in place of a once-existing mountain. The park itself contains scenic hiking trails, waterfalls, forests, and is characterised by its breathtaking natural landscapes.

Crocodylus Park offers a close-up look at one of the world's most feared predators, boasting five croc species, including the Philippine Crocodile, the rarest in the world. Croc feeding demonstrations take place daily, and there is also a small zoo displaying some Australian animals, like kangaroos and dingos, as well as lions, tigers, monkeys, and more.

The museum is meticulously maintained by passionate veterans and aviation enthusiasts. While most written explanations and documents are in Swedish, a QR code facilitates English comprehension. An added thrill awaits with a simulator that allows visitors to take the reins and experience flying their own jet fighter, adding an interactive dimension to this immersive exploration of military aviation history.

Hortus Botanicus is one of the world's oldest botanical gardens established in 1638 as an herb garden with medicinal plants for Amsterdam doctors and pharmacists. The plants were brought here from all over the world by the traders of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). Today, Hortus Botanicus holds more than 6,000 different plants, including unique ones, like the 2,000 years old agave cactus and a 300-year-old Eastern Cape giant cycad. The garden's orangery has a beautiful cafe with a large outside terrace open to the garden. Find some peace and quiet here, especially on a drizzly day.
