For adrenaline-pumping rides, head to Happy Valley Beijing, Beijing’s main theme park, with six themed zones, around 40 rides, an IMAX theatre, and a shopping area. It’s popular with both locals and tourists, so weekends and holidays can be very busy.

Built between 527 and 565 AD at the foot of Mount Sinai for Emperor Justinian, this monastery later took its name from St Catherine of Alexandria, whose remains are said to rest here. It’s more fortress than church, with thick stone walls guarding the Church of the Transfiguration, the chapel of the Burning Bush, and a monks-only library packed with ancient manuscripts. Inside, you’ll find mosaics, religious ornaments, and some of the oldest illuminated manuscripts in the world on display. Outside, don’t miss Moses’ Well and the garden with centuries of history. The place is open most mornings but closed on Fridays, Sundays, and Orthodox feast days. Still active today, the monastery holds importance across Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, and continues its Greek Orthodox traditions uninterrupted.

During the summer months, the classic Elba ferry becomes a beloved attraction in Västerås. This hop-on-hop-off boat offers a leisurely journey, allowing passengers to explore swimming beaches, enchanting harbour views, and scenic walkways. With a ticket valid for the entire day, passengers can freely hop on and off at their leisure, immersing themselves in the charm of several ports along the route.

At the foot of Kullaberg lies the old fishing town of Mölle. At the end of the nineteenth century, Mölle became known as the location of the first unisex public bath in Sweden, where ladies and gentlemen in striped bathing suits would go swimming in the sea. This was a great sensation that attracted curious and adventurous guests from all over, and there was even a train from Berlin. “Sinful Mölle” was thus established. To this day, Mölle is a popular tourist destination with its population tripling in the summer months.
