Grotta Mangiapane is the biggest cave of the group Scurati's Caverns. Scurati is a little village with very ancient origins, as the numerous finds happened here can demonstrate. The cave takes its name from the family Mangiapane, who lived here for more than a century, indeed it hosts a very peculiar rural agglomeration composed of little squared houses. Totally different epochs merge together in this unique place. During Christmas period, Grotta Mangiapane hosts a big event called “Living Nativity”, an event where the agro-pastoral life comes alive with some 160 performers, including artists and craftsmen from all over Sicily.

Away from the water’s edge there are some fabulous walking tracks and attractions: on Rarotonga, for example, visit the Highland Paradise and Black Rock, a spiritual place for the islanders. With Pa's Treks Day Tours you can either take the "cross islands trek" where you will cross the island of Rarotonga or "Pa's nature walk (Eco Tour)" which is more gentle and where you will learn about the nature and biology of the plants in an entertaining way.

The tiny castle village of Mesta dates back to the Byzantine period, when its thick city walls protected residents from marauder attacks. Today this unique historical monument welcomes visitors and invites you to taste its delectable local wine, “Mestousiko”.
