Crossing the streets in front of the Shibuya Station is an experience on its own. Approximately 2.500 people are crossing the road here at a time which justifies the frequent comparison to New York's Times Square and London's Piccadilly Circus intersection. Many street artists gather in this area to show their performances and moreover, can you find the statue of the famous and loyal dog Hachikō between station and intersection.

This nationally recognised Shinto shrine is considered one of Japan’s primary symbols of the country’s major religion. Take in the huge 11 metre cypress tree torii (gate) before wandering peacefully along winding paths to the wonderful inner buildings.

The Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park is a 44-hectare protected conservation park 10 km north-east of Townsville. The park offers 15 walking and mountain biking trails of varying lengths and difficulty, fishing and boating, bird watching and shell collecting. Cape Pallarenda was a strategic defence location in World War II and structured from that era can be spotted along the walking trails. The former Cape Pallarenda Quarantine Station is now heritage-listed. It was built in 1915–1916 using the materials brought over from the original quarantine station on Magnetic Island.

Traces of previous generations are especially evident here: burial mounds, an early medieval church ruin, house foundations, roads, and a runestone bear witness to the lives lived here. The exhibition at the Nolby Högar site narrates the area's long history.
