The Tower of Belém, officially the Tower of Saint Vincent, was built on the banks of the Tagus between 1515 and 1521 by King Manuel I of Portugal to guard the entrance to the port of Lisbon. Through the centuries it has served as a point of embarkation and disembarkation for Portuguese explorers, as well as a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon. In 1983 the tower was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List, together with the Jerónimos Monastery.

About one hour's drive from the city, you can visit the ruins of the Phnom Chisor Temple, a temple from the Angkorian era. From the hill where it is located, you will have great views over the countryside, but keep in mind that it can be very hot to climb all the way up during midday.

King Abdullah Park provides a spacious, manicured retreat in the heart of Riyadh. Its expansive lawns, wide pedestrian pathways and artificial lake offer residents a place for picnics, jogs, and leisurely strolls. The park is particularly popular in the evenings when its large fountain is illuminated for a synchronised musical show. A dedicated children's play area and various food kiosks make it a practical destination for families. The divine white-sand beach was once believed to be washed over by waters with strong curative properties. Today, over a century later, the possible medicinal effect has been eclipsed by its popularity with leisure vacationers, either idling in the sun or engaging in water sports (equipment available for hire).
