Canberra - Essential Information
Canberra International Airport is located 7 km east of the city centre. There are no direct flights to international destinations, but there are direct connections to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.
The Airport Express shuttle bus operates from the airport to the city centre. It costs $12 one way and $20 return. The trip takes about 20 minutes.
Taxis are available at all times of the day from the front of the Terminal. An average fare to the city centre is around $50.
Passengers can choose from six different car rental companies.
ACTION buses is Canberra's public bus service and covers most sites and suburbs. On the bus you can pay with the prepaid MyWay smartcard or cash.

With Greyhound there are also regular bus services that operate from Canberra to Sydney about 3-3.5 hours by dual carriage highway. The bus terminal is located in the Jolimont Centre, 61 Northbourne Avenue, Canberra City.

Take the opportunity to bike on the many pathways throughout Canberra. Try Mr Spokes rental bikes in Acton Park on the edge of Lake Burley Griffin.

Post offices are located throughout the city and in suburban shopping centres. Stamps are also available from newsagents. If you wanna mail letters, look for red post boxes around town.

The Canberra Day and Night Chemist (Capital Chemist) is open everyday from 9am-11pm and is located on 9 Sargood St.
