Girona’s nightlife is heavily influenced by the many students that call the city home. Diverse bars, pubs, and nightclubs can be found throughout Girona, with the numerous establishments based in and around Plaça de la Independència being a particularly popular gathering point to get the evening started. The weekend is naturally the busiest time for nightlife, but lively venues can be found any day of the week, especially on Thursday, which is a popular night for students.

Lola Cafè

Lola Café is located right in the middle of the old quarter, and offers a proper Latin touch to the start of the night. Not only do they have delicious drinks, but on Wednesdays and Thursdays they have the best Latin-American and Catalan rumba musicians in town.

Sunset Jazz Club

Sunset Jazz Club

Girona's only jazz club plays live music on Tuesdays to Thursdays, plus Saturdays and Sundays. Both international and national musicians come here to jam in the bar's small and intimate, yet comfortable space, and crowds gather to enjoy the show and sip on the wonderful house cocktails.

Cúrcuma is a lovely tapas bar in the traditional Catalonian style, which visitors seem to love without exception. The restaurant is a little gem located near the City Hall, and everything is just right here, the location, the delicious food and the well-priced wine list.

The River Café is a great option for celiacs, be it for breakfast, a light snack, or a larger meals, as up to 90% of their dishes are gluten-free. The city's central square is a meeting place for people of all ages at any hour, but after dark is when it really comes to life. That's when students, tourists, and workers gather in throngs to eat, drink, and be merry in the numerous restaurants and bars that surround the plaza. It is, by far, the best place to experience Girona's nightlife and immerse yourself in the spirit of the city.
