Lyon - Cafes

A café is first and foremost something that is just there, waiting for the tired passer-by who happens to walk that way. And then whether it happens to be a grand square such as Place des Terreaux, Place Louis Pradel or just an alley in the Old City, is not so important. However, for those who don’t just want to see – but also to be seen – there are, of course, a great number of addresses to go to.

Grand Café des Négociants

This is the place if you want to be sure that you are never in the wrong place. This is always right. Heavy curtains, exquisite plasterwork and mirrors everywhere for Lyons’ silk merchants who wanted to be able to keep an eye on each other. A monument in Lyon. What the Café Flore is for Parisians.

Modern Art Café

Does justice to its name: exhibitions and video shows, and a chaotic collection of club armchairs, sun loungers and designer sofas.

Café Pignol

This is one of Lyon’s most famous cafés/tea houses. Enjoy a cup of coffee and a nice pastry.
