The best time to visit Sapporo is in winter and summer. In these two seasons different kinds of events are held. In February, the Snow Festival, one of the most awaited events by locals and visitors is held. Outstanding and massive snow sculptures dominate the city during this period. In summer, lavender fields of Furano and the cherry blossom attract crowds of travelers. Taxis in Sapporo are safe and can be easily found around the city centre and at the designated taxi waiting area such as airport and major hotels. All taxi has a meter which clearly indicates the fare. If the taxi accepts credit cards this will be shown visibly on the window. Before stopping a taxi, you should know where you are going since the postal address system is complex so make sure clearly tell the address or have an address written down on a paper to show the driver.
