Twenty minutes away from Lynden is the popular city of Bellingham. One of Bellingham's treasures is Whatcom Falls park. Situated around Whatcom creek, the waters run through different phases, including a series of waterfalls for which the park was named. Explore the lush, ancient growth forest that is active with joggers, walkers, picnickers and people walking their dogs. There is also a playground and tennis court.

Montaña de Tindaya is a sacred mountain renowned for its natural, geological, and historic significance. Still known as "The Mountain of Witches", the mountain is associated with the times of myth and magic — there are 213 engravings from prehistoric times dotted around the hillsides. On clear days, hikers may catch a glimpse of Tenerife and Gran Canaria from the summit of the mountain. The hike is suitable for all experience levels. NOTE: This mountain is a protected area for several species of birds, and hikers must seek a permit from ‘Consejería de Medio Ambiente’ before setting foot on the mountain.

Right beside the Dry Bridge market sits a park that is the hangout spot for the city's young and hip. On sunny days the lawns fill up with groups of people enjoying fresh air. The park has been fully renovated and now features a skate park and several bars.

The island's original inhabitants – the Benahoare – have left two circular rock carvings engraved in stone now on display in La Palma's Parque Cultural La Zarza. The on-site museum tells the story of the people who once populated the volcanic island and details the Spanish conquest of the mid-15th century.
