Since being founded by Herbert von Karajan in 1967, the Easter Festival has been an integral component of the Salzburg events calendar. Providing a complement to the Salzburg Festival during the summer months, in this case, the primary focus is on opera. The Easter Festival begins on the Saturday before Palm Sunday and lasts until Easter Monday.

Hallgrímskirkja is an iconic part of Reykjavík's skyline and at 74.5 metres tall it is one of the tallest structures in the country. The gigantic church on the hill was a controversial project, but Icelanders have come to embrace their monumental tower in all its brutalist glory. The concrete mountain which took over 40 years to construct was inspired by the unusual columnar basalt formations along Iceland’s coast. You can admire the building inside and outside, go to the top of the tower to catch the view or attend an organ concert. The church is named after Hallgrímur Pétursson — a 17th-century minister and poet who wrote the “The Passion Hymns”. The book remains popular to this day.

This is the first private museum to organize modern and contemporary art exhibitions in the city. It was founded in 2004 and is located in an old warehouse by the harbour. Istanbul Modern Museum offers two main exhibition halls; the museum’s permanent collection is displayed on the upper floor and the temporary exhibition hall and photography gallery on the lower floor.

Arter is non-profit centre that displays modern art in a gorgeous modern building with a fabulous facade — in stark contrast with comparatively dilapidated old buildings in the area. A must for fans of contemporary art. Every single visitor is impressed by the bookstore. The art centre also has a lovely cafe with a terrace.
