Grenoble - Essential Information
Airport
Grenoble St-Geoirs Airport is located 50 kilometres from the city centre. Buses leave from Grenoble bus station to the airport one hour and fifteen minutes before departure. The bus takes 35 minutes. Buses depart from the airport in connection with all incoming flights. Tickets: €13 for a single trip and €20 for a return. Taxis cost about €60. All taxis have a 50 percent fare increase at weekends.
Airport
It is 80 kilometres from Lyon Saint-Exupery Airport to the centre of Grenoble and it takes about an hour by bus. Tickets: €20 for a single, €30 for a return. Taxis cost about €100 on weekdays.
Public Transport
Two tram lines run every five minutes, and on weekends every 15 minutes. A ticket costs €1.20. Tickets can be purchased from the driver or the ticket machine. Several regional buses run to various ski resorts and villages. If you want to go skiing, you should buy tickets in advance as you then have priority if the bus is full. Bus tickets are sold at the bus station beside the railway station and at the tourist office. www.vfd.fr has the timetable for ski buses. Post
Bureaux des postes, post offices, are recognized by the blue and yellow La Poste sign. La Poste used to be called PTT, which is still on some signs.
Pharmacy
Every chemists has a sign in the window giving details of the chemists, pharmacie de garde, with 24 hour opening.
Dentist
You can find French and English speaking emergency dentists, 24 hours a day.
