As one of the most active volcanoes on the planet, Kīlauea volcano is consistently one of Big Island's biggest attractions. Its reputation precedes it as a sacred place for Native Hawaiians as well. Marvel at the active Mauna Loa, learn about volcanology at the Jaggar Museum, take a selfie at the viewpoint overlooking the Halema'uma'u Crater. The long, underground cave formed by ancient flowing lava called the Thurston Lava Tube (Nāhuku) is another must-see.

The gorgeous and elegant Museum of Cycladic Art contains more than 3,000 artefacts of Cycladic, Ancient Greek and Cypriot art pieces on display over four floors. This is an interesting museum to visit to get a greater understanding of this colourful culture.

Sintra is a charming town located in the lush hills of the Serra de Sintra amidst an evergreen pine forest known for its whimsical villas and the ruins of a 10th-century Moorish castle. The main attractions include the vibrancy-coloured yellow Palácio Nacional de Pena, the Neo-Gothic mansion of Quinta da Regaleira and the medieval Palácio Nacional de Sintra. The town's entire centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some day tours to Sintra will also include a visit to Cabo da Roca — the westernmost point in Europe, as well as a stop in the Cascais bay area.

Part of the Acropolis, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus is a stone Roman theatre. The structure was completed in 161 AD only to become a ruin a hundred years later. The amphitheatre went through a series of renovations throughout the centuries and now host a wide variety of cultural events. The venue is widely known by locals as simply Herodeon.
