Tongan National Centre
Exceptional examples of traditional craft can be seen at the Tongan National Centre at Tofoa. Souvenirs, carvings in wood, shell and bone are prized and one of the best places to pick up excellent carvings at reasonable prices is Art of Tonga, located in the Fund Management Building on Taufa’ahau Road. It is a small shop, but don’t let that fool you, for the quality of wares they sell is very good. Be mindful when buying that you are purchasing a genuine article.

The Fish Market
The local Fish Market in Tongatapu, opens its doors to the fish lovers and not only from the very early morning (around 5am). Tables are full of big crabs, oysters, tropical fish and many more, all caught fresh in the turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean. Come early and taste some delights of the sea, raw or cooked.
