When travelling to Koh Samui there are many beautiful places where you can scuba dive and snorkel. There are also many tour operators to choose from, one of which is 100 Degrees East, offering boat excursions with snorkelling and diving activities among colorful fishes and coral reefs.

The cliffs are among the most beautiful forms of scenery on Sylt. These relics of the Ice Age, rising up to 20 metres, can be found in Morsum (Colourful Cliffs), Kampen (Red Cliffs), Wenningstedt (White Cliffs) and Keitum (Green Cliffs).

Further inland, in the southern part of the island, lie the so-called masticochoria (mastic villages). These well-preserved, fortified villages date from the 14th-16th centuries and were centres for the cultivation of mastic. Mastic is the sweet-tasting gum of the lentisk bush, which was exported all over the Mediterranean – and the area still produces around 300 tonnes of mastic every year. The most picturesque villages are Pyrgi, with its houses decorated in black and white geometric patterns called xysta Mesta, where towers and walls surround a baffling labyrinth of village streets as well as Olympoi and Vessa are all a worth a visit.

Port Macquarie is part of a significant wine region around the Hastings River where the best grapes are chambourcin, chardonnay, verdelho, semillon and merlot. Dairy and oyster farms, as well as plantation crops such as macadamia nuts and avocados, make this a great foodie destination. Fresh produce aplenty can be sourced at Wauchope Farmers Markets, held on the fourth Saturday of every month. Annual food and wine festivals include Sip and Savour Festival.
