Art is a way of life in the village of Worpswede, which lies approximately 30 kilometres outside Bremen. This modest village in the region of Teufelsmoor, is home to art museums, and many of its inhabitants are involved in the creative arts. You can reach Worpswede by car, by train train or by boat from the Vegesack district.

Be prepared to have your mind bent, blown and rewired as you walk into the Lange Voorhout Palace where the illusory work of famous graphic artist M.C. Escher is exhibited. The palace is home to such legendary Escher paintings as 'Air and Water' in which birds are blended into fish and 'Waterfall' in which water appears to flow upwards instead of down. There are interactive experiences on the second floor, dedicated to the Eye of Escher where guests are encouraged to solve some of Escher’s most perplexing mysteries, including the impossible Penrose Triangle. On the third floor, there is a large-scale optical illusion where adults can appear to be children and vice versa. Audio tours and guided tours are available and there are additional temporary exhibitions taking place on occasion.

The so-called Temple of Hercules (AD 162–166) dominates Amman’s Citadel. These days, archaeologists prefer to call it the Great Temple of Amman, since its dedication remains uncertain. Only six Corinthian columns stand reconstructed today. The rest lie as fragmented drums, their dowel holes revealing Roman engineering techniques. A colossal marble statue once graced the site. All that survives is a weathered elbow and fingers, suggesting a figure over 13 metres tall, likely toppled in the 8th-century earthquake. The temple’s platform doubles as Amman’s premier viewpoint, framing the modern city against the 150-metre Jordanian flag. Excavations nearby expose layers of civilisation: Umayyad palaces, Byzantine churches, and Roman baths intertwine with older Bronze Age ruins. Though the Hercules name persists thanks to the sculptural remnant, archaeologists emphasise the temple’s civic importance. Its sheer scale reflects Amman’s status as a regional hub. Guides prove invaluable for deciphering 9,000 years of history compressed into a single hilltop.

Ada Ciganlija, Belgrade's most renowned summer resort, has transformed from an island to a peninsula, becoming the city's largest and most picturesque recreational spot. The Savsko lake is encircled by over 7 km of Blue Flag-awarded beaches, offering myriad ways to enjoy hot summer days. In summer, Ada Ciganlija turns into a bustling hub, attracting over 100,000 visitors daily (up to 300,000 on weekends) for swimming, sports, or leisurely afternoons in beachside cafés. In contrast, autumn and winter bring a quieter atmosphere, with a scenic promenade lined by cafés and nightclubs, although the lake's ice is too thin for skating. With more than 50 open-air sports facilities, including a golf course and cable-ski circuit, as well as courts and pitches for various sports and extreme activities like bungee-jumping and paintball, there's no shortage of action. The area's restaurants offer traditional city fare, particularly fish specialities, while bars and floating river clubs provide vibrant nightlife.
