Piazza della Pera is a small square in the heart of the San Martino district of the city of Pisa. Officially, its name is Piazza Chiara Gambacorti, but the locals still call it "della Pera" owing to the due to the vaguely pear-shaped Etruscan stone nearby. The square is popular with families, young people and the elderly eager to spend a little time on the marble benches in the shade of the small trees scattered on the edges of the square to shelter from the scorching summer heat.
