Sollefteå

The name Sollefteå translates to "the sunny climes." Situated in the Ångermanälven river valley, nestled between the fjeld and the sea and bordered by scenic mountains and steep sandy river banks, this region has always been a magnet for people throughout history. The rock carvings at Nämforsen river shows it was an important place even 6,000 years ago.

Härnösand was founded in 1585 and today you find the Cathedral, the residence of the County Governor and a university in the city. Cultural life is rich with attractions such as the Västernorrland County Museum and the Hemsö Fästning military fortress. Events include everything from city celebrations and dance festivals, to theaters and jazz nights. Nature is right on the town's doorstep, with nature reserves, great beaches and activities for all ages.
