Västerås offers excellent rail connections between the central station and surrounding towns. With its fantastic location on Lake Mälaren, you are always close to the water and boat services.

Stockholm Västerås Airport (VST)

Stockholm-Västerås Airport is located five kilometres outside Västerås, just a 15-minute drive from the city centre, and approximately 80 minutes from Stockholm. City bus no. 3 provides easy access to the airport departing from the Västerås city centre. Travellers coming from Stockholm can opt for a train journey with SJ from Stockholm Central, reaching Västerås in 60 minutes. Currently, the airport is exclusively served by Ryanair, offering flights to Alicante, London, and Malaga.

Public Transportation

Bus services run regularly from early morning to late evening on weekdays and until 3:30am at weekends. Please note that the buses are cashless. Tickets can be purchased from most supermarkets and newsagents as well as Västerås Tourist Office or from the ticket machines placed in and around the city.
