Housed in the historic ‘De Kat’ building on the Grote Markt, which dates from the 15th century, Sava is a bar that offers a good selection of Cavas, wines and Mechelen beers on tap plus delicious, home-made tapas. The emphasis is on local products from family producers, fair trade and sustainable sources. Sava is open every day from 9 in the morning through to midnight or later. Several years ago the Lamot brewery was converted into the Grand Café Lamot, part of the LAMOT conference and heritage centre complex. Grand Café Lamot’s large terrace overlooks a convivial square with a view of the Dyle. Quality products provide the basis for the mix of classics and daring combinations, all beautifully presented.
