Bathsheba Beach

Picturesque Bathsheba Beach on Barbados’ East Coast is famous for its iconic cliffs and rocks – and the Soup Bowl, a popular surfer’s spot. This beach is not the perfect place for a swim, but the gorgeous view on the wild sea quickly makes up for that. It is only a 30-min car drive away from Bridgetown.

Pebbles Beach

Pebbles Beach is – contrary to what one could assume – a sandy beach, located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bridgetown. It overlooks Carlisle Bay (south of Browne’s Beach) and is washed over by calm waters, which makes it perfect for children. Sometimes you can even watch racehorses take a bath here. Kayaking is also a popular activity at this beach.

Brownes Beach

As one of Barbados’ largest beaches, Brownes Beach stretches out along famous Carlisle Bay with its shipwrecks and other sunken treasures underwater. It is only a five-minute walk from the city centre of Bridgetown and popular for various beach sporting activities. The Boatyard Club, Barbados Yacht Club, and Barbados Cruising Club are also located at Brownes Beach.

Paradise Beach

Paradise Beach is separated from other Bridgetown beaches by a piece of woodland, a nice picnic spot. It is relatively quiet, not over-crowded and perfect for swimming, as there is no dangerous undertow. Around the corner, you will find Freshwater Bay and a tiny fishing village.

Dover Beach

In the middle of St. Lawrence Gap you will find Dover Beach, set on the southern coast of Barbados. Many locals and travellers come here for water sports like jet skiing and windsurfing. There is also a playing field for cricket nearby. After an exciting day at the beach, you can head over to the busy nightlife of St. Lawrence Gap.

Brighton Beach

Located north of Bridgetown’s city centre and away from busy Carlisle Bay, Brighton Beach offers a more laid-back atmosphere (besides white sand and turquoise water). You can watch ships going in and out of the cruise port nearby. Brighton Beach is accessible from Spring Garden Highway.

Bottom Bay Beach

Bottom Bay Beach is located on the eastern tip of Barbados, close to Apple Hall. It is semi-enclosed by coral cliffs and offers tall palm trees and wonderful picnic spots. You may even spot turtles and whales here. However, bathing is not recommended due to the strong waves and current.

Shark Hole Beach

Shark Hole Beach is a unique experience when travelling to Barbados. It is hidden by Long Bay on the southeastern coast of the island and located near Sam Lord’s Castle. The current has formed a spoon type funnel, protected by barrier reef coves. As popular this spot is on weekends, you may find it nearly deserted on weekday mornings. However, the strong undercurrents outside Shark Hole are not to be underestimated.
