Thessaloniki is famous for various events, festivals and cultural happenings, and is unofficially the cultural capital of Greece. Each year the city hosts the Thessaloniki International Trade Fair and the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. During these events, it can be difficult to find accommodation. Always book in advance to ensure a comfortable place to stay. Prices can be 20% lower, depending on when you go. Most hotels will usually give you the higher prices but always give a discount when they are not fully booked.
