Napoleon Bonaparte Airport (AJA)

Corsica's busiest airport, Napoleon Bonaparte Airport (AJA), lies 5 kilometres from the island's capital. Formerly known as Campo dell'Oro, after the alluvial plain on which it was built, it has regular and seasonal connections to mainland France and other European destinations. Bus Line 11 runs directly to the Ajaccio city centre in around 20 minutes, every 15 minutes during the day on weekdays and Saturdays, and every 30 minutes on evenings, Sundays and public holidays. Tickets must be purchased before boarding. Ricantu train station lies around 2 kilometres away along a coastal path, though services are infrequent. Taxis are available outside arrivals.

Figari–South Corsica Airport (FSC)

Figari–Sud Corse Airport lies 3 kilometres northwest of the village of Figari and around 25 kilometres southwest of Porto-Vecchio, serving the far south of the island. Most connections are seasonal. A shuttle bus runs to Porto-Vecchio with timetables varying by season. Taxis are available on arrival.

Ferry

Ferries run from Nice, Marseille, and Toulon to Ajaccio, Propriano and Porto-Vecchio (along with several destinations in the island's north). There's also a ferry service from nearby Sardinia (Italy) to Bonifacio.

Passport & Visa

Citizens of the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) countries do not need a visa to enter France, only a valid ID. Many other countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, and New Zealand, benefit from visa-free entry for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Visitors from visa-exempt countries must hold a valid passport and, starting in late 2026, will need to apply for an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) authorisation online before travelling. For those requiring a visa, such as travellers from some Middle Eastern, African or Asian nations, a Schengen visa must be obtained prior to arrival. All travellers should ensure their passport is valid for at least three months beyond their intended stay.

Best Time to Visit

Peak tourist season in Corsica falls in the months of July and August when the weather is hottest. Late spring (May to June) and early fall (September to October) are much more pleasant in terms of weather, and better fit for hiking and active outdoor pursuits.

Post offices can be found in most Corsican settlements. In larger cities, these work Monday through Friday, with short opening hours on Saturdays. Stamps may also be purchased at press and tobacco shops.
