If you're planning to visit Davao in August, make sure to book your accomodation months ahead - the annual Kadayawan Festival happens around that time of year, and places to stay may be few and far between. Summer peaks in April and May, when temperatures tend to get high, followed by the monsoon season that lasts till October. Best times to visit are the cool, dry months of December and February.
