Citizens of European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) countries do not need a visa to enter Croatia, only a valid ID. Many other countries, including the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Australia, and New Zealand, benefit from visa-free entry for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Best Time to Visit

When in Rijeka, the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea, fascinating history, delicious seafood and wine will surround you. The best time to visit Rijeka is from May to early June and from September to October, when the crowds of tourists haven't yet invaded every corner of the city. In these months, you can still enjoy sunbathing or any outdoor activity without spending too much. The peak season is from July to August, meaning that room rates are often higher. Winters, although cold, are known for being also one of the busiest seasons in Rijeka. Many events take place during this season, like the annual Rijeka Carnival; the biggest carnival held in Croatia.

Public Transport

Public Transport

The best way to get around Rijeka city centre is often on foot, but taxis and buses can make the journey easier. Rijeka’s public transportation includes the city's 1st zone and suburban 2nd, 3rd and 4th zones. Public transport operates from 5am to 11:30pm, approximately every 15 minutes. The Tourist Card allows you unlimited use of Rijeka’s buses. Your ticket is valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours. The rail station is at Krešimirova 5, while the bus station is located at Žabica Square. Scheduled bus lines connect Rijeka with bigger Croatian and European cities. The boat harbour is located in the city centre. You can also purchase tickets online or in person at the Jadrolinija agency located on Rijeka's waterfront.
