Hallandsgården
Hallandsgården is an open-air museum with a collection of historically interesting buildings from a Halland that has disappeared. During the summer, you can have a coffee and a waffle in the café. Hallandsgården is located on the thickly wooded Galgberget hill, close to the town centre.

Najaden
The training ship Najaden, moored up against the Castle, is perhaps what is most associated with Halmstad. It is a small-scale, full-rigged ship from 1897. For the moment Najaden is under repair.
Beach life
Except from the well known beach of Tylösand there is 21 beaches along the 40 kilometre long coastline. The only school of lifeguards in the Nordic countries is located at Tylösand and the train 60 lifeguards annually. Lifeguards patrol the beaches during the summer. Disability suited bathing places are located in Tylösand and on Östra stranden (The eastern beach). Inland you find bathing places among many of the lakes.
Close to nature
There are totally 46 nature reserves in the municipality with different types of nature and wildlife, there is also a bird sanctuary.
Inland you will find meadows and deep forests that offer a rich spectrum of outdoor activities. In Simlångsdalen you can go kayaking in the rivers and lakes. If you like fishing, Nissan and Fylleån offer good conditions for catching salmon and trout, and in the lakes the pike, bass and steelhead will bite.
In the region there is 200 kilometers of bicycle route. Ginst trail takes you along the coast of Halland, the Hylte trail in the wilderness of Nissadalen and Cykelspåret (bike trail) through a range of terrain.
The Banvall trail stretches 250 kilometers between Halmstad and Karlsham.
If you like hiking you got plenty to discover. The Prins Bertils trail follows the coast line from Halmstad castle to Tylösand. Then it turns inland and ends 18 kilometers from the castle in the nature reserve Möllegård.
The trail Hallandsleden is 380 kilometers long and cuts trough Halmstad region but there is heaps of trails and walks close to the city. Near the centre is Galgberget and further out you will find Haverdal and Steninge, but also in the woods close to Skedala, Simlångsdalen and Kvibille.
