Corfu International Airport "Ioannis Kapodistrias" (CFU)

Corfu International Airport "Ioannis Kapodistrias" (CFU) is located three kilometres south of Corfu Town. Outside the terminal, bus Line 15 connects the airport to the city centre and the Intercity Bus Station (KTEL), where you can transfer to destinations all over the island. Alternatively, taxis are readily available just outside the terminal building.

Passport & Visa

Citizens of European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) countries do not need a visa to enter Greece, only a valid ID. Many other countries, including the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Australia, and New Zealand, benefit from visa-free entry for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Visitors from visa-exempt countries must hold a valid passport and, starting in late 2026, will need to apply for an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) authorisation online before travelling. For those requiring a visa, such as travellers from some Middle-East, African or Asian nations, a Schengen visa must be obtained prior to arrival. All travellers should ensure their passport is valid for at least three months beyond their intended stay.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit the island of Corfu is during the spring (April to early June) and autumn (September to October). During these months, the weather is pleasant with warm temperatures and less humidity compared to the peak summer months. Spring brings blooming flowers and lush landscapes, while autumn showcases vibrant colours and is ideal for outdoor activities. Also, visiting during these shoulder seasons allows you to avoid the large crowds present during the summer peak. However, if you prefer hot weather and bustling beach scenes, the summer months of July and August are the peak tourist season, but it can get quite crowded and hot during this time.

Tourist Traps

The most common tourist trap on Corfu is overly-expensive taxi rides. Therefore, it's a good idea to insist that all fares are shown on the meter. Some restaurants overcharge on the bill so, it's generally a good idea to check your bill before you pay the amount requested.

Public Transport

From central Corfu, there are buses that take you to different destinations on the island and they're reasonably reliable. The long-distance buses leave from the bus station, which is close to the New Port in Corfu Town and the local bus station is on Pleteia San Rocco. The green buses are the long-distance ones and the blue buses are local.

Post

Postboxes on Corfu are yellow and stamps can be bought in shops and kiosks. You can find post offices in villages throughout the island.
