Kulminator operates like a speakeasy for vintage Belgian beer, with all the eccentricity that implies. The beer list reads like a museum catalogue, with vintages stretching back decades. The owners treat each pour with reverence, serving Trappist ales in proper glassware alongside plates of sharp cheese or cured meat. This is no place for rowdy groups — Van Dyke has been known to turn away anyone he deems unserious. But for those who pass muster, Kulminator offers something vanishingly rare: the chance to taste history, one meticulously preserved bottle at a time.
