The San Luis Obispo Regional Transit Authority operates the Avila Beach Trolley services during the summer. Once a week they transport to the farmer's and fish market, and four days a week from Port San Luis to Pismo Beach. It also provides bus services throughout San Luis Obispo County and into Santa Barbara County.

Avila Beach is served by the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport, which offers commercial flights to Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle and other national destinations. Airlines operating here include United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and American Airlines. Most travelers rely on apps like Lyft or Uber to get to the airport, or use a private vehicle. There is only one terminal with modest amenities, including free Wi-Fi, an ATM, and charging stations. There are also a couple of restaurants and vending machines for a quick bite.

Citizens of the Schengen countries, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and the Kingdom of Brunei can visit the United States for up to 90 days without applying for a visa, as well as citizens of Andorra, Lichtenstein, Monaco and San Marino.
