Graz

Graz

Graz – Austria’s culinary and cultural capital. A practical tip from the start: If you want to explore Graz, wear comfortable shoes and loose clothing. Why? Even if Graz is actually small — the second-largest city in Austria with a quarter of a million resident by no means a “big city” — you should be prepared for the fact that time also flies in the many short lanes. Comfortable footwear goes easy on busy feet here. In the historic old town with its roads, streets, squares and courtyards there’s lots to explore and even more to enjoy.

Historic Rock-Cut Cellars
Nuremberg, Germany

Historic Rock-Cut Cellars

The history of Nuremberg is inseparable from the history of beer. At the end of the 14th century in Nuremberg, there were more than 40 breweries for a population that totaled less than 30,000 people. A regulation from the city council required everyone who wanted to brew beer and sell it to have their own beer cellar for fermentation and storing of beer. It is this medieval law that produced today's historical rock-cut cellars. At the end of a tour of the historic underground rock-cut cellars and the Hausbrauerei Altstadthof, you can try a traditional Nuremberg red beer.
