The permanent exhibitions at the Västerbotten Museum delve into the county's ancient history, cultural heritage, settler life and reindeer husbandry. It also houses a remarkable photographic collection of Sune Jonsson, capturing the essence of the Norrland agricultural landscape. In the summer, the outdoor museum at Gammlia buzzes with activity. Historical buildings, relocated from various parts of the county, together with period-costumed cottage hosts and farm animals, create an authentic atmosphere. Three different Sami settlements have been recreated at Gammlia. In the winter, visitors can explore the permanent exhibitions and wander through the grounds.

By the northern side of Maltańskie Lake runs the track of ‘Maltanka’ park train, which takes the passengers to the New Zoo. The route is about 3,8 km long. ‘Maltanka’ runs daily from the end of April till the end of September. The carriages are pulled among others by the steam engine Borsig from 1925.

Giant sequoia trees and mixed conifer forests draw countless nature enthusiasts each year. Calaveras has been a State Park since 1931, when it became apparent that the beautiful North Grove needed preserving. The Grove features the wondrous "Discovery Tree" (also known as the "Big Stump"). which was the first Sierra redwood noted by Augustus T. Dowd in 1852. Guided tours are offered on Saturdays.

Freedom is inlaid with every brick of its architectural facade, while history wafts in every room and corridor. As the site of independence for America, Independence Hall served witness to the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. Generations of visitors have ventured through time in the Assembly Room, Courtroom of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, Long Gallery, Governor’s Council Chamber, and Committee of the Assembly Chamber. Myriads of historical figures have tread through Independence Hall, including Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, and others.
