This 14th-century church, known as Santuario della Madonna della Misericordia in Italian, is renowned for the portrait of Madonna della Misericordia, painted by the artist Giuseppe Soleri in the 18th–19th century. Located near the Augustus Arch, this sanctuary was originally constructed by Clarisse nuns. Throughout its history, this church has been a site of continuous pilgrimages and a place of profound prayer. It is said that the miraculous image of Madonna della Misericordia moved its eyes in 1850, adding to its mystique. As a result, the 12th of every month holds special significance as a day to commemorate this miraculous event.

A dry river bed descends from the city centre all the way to the beach. Along the way, you'll see the Birds Valley — a small zoo with a focus on birds. With its shaded playground, numerous animals and no entrance fee, this is a perfect place for the family to visit, but be aware that it can be very crowded at weekends, since it is also very popular among locals.

Located next to the Church of Suffragio in Piazza Ferrari, the City Museum, Museo Della Città, is housed within a former Jesuit monastery. It has numerous exhibits of local historical and artistic heritage including those in the Roman Lapidary, the Archaeological Section and paintings. It currently has over 1,500 works on display across 40 galleries, and the museum's collection continues to grow as new sections are planned for future openings.
