Due to its location in central Germany, Altenburg's weather is typical of of central European continental climate: with lots of rain and snow during the winter, the city is characterized by mild and sunny summers. The period between late spring and early Autumn (approximately from the end of May to the first half of September) may be the best moment to enjoy Altenburg and to explore the magnificent countryside around the city.
