Västerbotten cuisine – with local raw materials such as berries, ’almond potatoes’, mushrooms, reindeer, salmon trout, char, grouse and venison – can be ordered at many restaurants. The orange coloured cloudberry is a popular dessert. They grow in bogs and mosses and are a real delicacy. And don’t miss the pride of the county, and one of its most well known products – Västerbotten cheese.
Rex Bar & Grill
Situated in one of Umeå’s most beautiful stone houses, the old town hall from the last century, this restaurant serves prize-winning Västerbotten food. If you want your entire meal to consist of local food then you might try ordering Västerbotten tapas as a starter, grilled char as main course and hot cloudberry consommè as a dessert.
Viskningar & Rop
Viskningar is the glazed-in á la carte restaurant which blends classics from Lappland with international dishes. It has been graded by ”Gastro Botnia” which requires that at least 70 percent of the raw materials come from local producers. Rop is a brasserie where you can eat everything from hamburgers to fajitas and Swedish home cooking. They are both located in the Hotel Scandic Plaza.
Viktoria
Viktoria is a place for the good meeting and a lounge. The new Västerbotten cuisine is the focus and Viktoria is using unique ingredients from the mountains, forest, ocean and friends on the farm.
Restaurang Sävargården
Culinary haunt of Swedish kings and queens. Crystal chandeliers in the ceiling, hand-painted wallpaper and home-made furniture have led to Sävargården being selected for the second year in a row as the third best restaurant environment in Sweden by Vägarnas Bästa.
Restaurang Sjöbris
One of Umeå’s most exciting restaurant environments! The boat was constructed in 1915 and converted into a restaurant in 1999. In the summer blues is played on the rear deck.

Relaxed place and good food at the right price. Popular after work on Fridays when you can either have a light meal in the bar, or a three course meal in the restaurant.
