Very old dolls, the first Saab and worn-out running shoes are just some of the things you can see when you visit us. Here you can discover things you previously had no idea of, for example what an elk sounds like. You can learn that and much more about the “King of the Forest” when visiting Älgens Berg Royal Hunting Museum. Vänersborg Museum, which incidentally is the oldest museum in the country, houses unique collections of items brought back by explorers from their journeys of discovery. The Innovatum Science Centre in Trollhättan is a building filled with technology, knowledge and experiments for people of all ages. Next door is the Saab Automobile Museum, an El Dorado for automobile enthusiasts.

The Trollhättan Waterfalls

The Trollhättan waterfalls are unique. They will treat you to a spectacular experience, as 300.000 litres of water per second rush by. The best place to enjoy this view is from the Oskarsbro (Oskar’s bridge). A touch of magic is added at night, when there is special lighting.

Ecopark Halle-Hunneberg

On the plateau mountains Halle- and Hunneberg, you can experience magnificent views and grandiose nature. The mountains are internationally renowned for their elks and the Royal Hunt. The mountains have a network of walking trails that lead you through the nature preserve, past ancient cultural relics and exquisite views.

The Locks Area

The three separate lock terraces create the idyllic and green park area of Gamle Dal’n. Here one finds lock segment from 1800, 1844 and 1916. The four locks in use today were inaugurated in 1916, and have a difference in level of 32 m. Apart from the locks, you’ll find a pleasant café (open during summer), guest harbours and the Canal Museum. Boat tours are available.

Solliden

During the spring and summer, popular activities such as medieval skittles and guided tours are organized at the Solliden cultural heritage croft at Båberg. A popular handicraft day is held here on the last sunday in August.

The Brinkebergskulle Lock

This lock is the topmost of six locks that regulate the waterway between Vänern and the North Sea. Follow the exciting lockage procedure from the lock café that is open during summer – fun for all the family.
