You won’t be left with nothing to do here – unless you want to sit down on a park bench and just enjoy life. Naturally, many of our activities are connected to our fantastic natural assets such as table-top hills and water. If you are a golfer, you have two beautifully situated golf courses to choose from: Onsjö GK in Vänersborg or Trollhättans GK at Koberg castle. If you prefer miniature golf, we have four courses to choose from – two in each town. More things to do: go horse-back riding or try your luck at fishing! Did you know that the pike fishing in the Göta Canal is considered to be among the best in Sweden? If you still haven’t had your fill of nature, we recommend a hiking trip. We have both long and short routes, with good maps and information material. Time to cool down with a swim? Visit one of our many bathing sites or swimming pools such as Älvhögsborg in Trollhättan and the Vattenpalatset Water Park in Vänersborg. There is plenty to do here!
Guided Elk Safaris
Come along on an exciting elk safari on the plateau mountains of Halle- and Hunneberg, through West-Sweden’s most attractive landscapes. You’ll be informed about the elk and the history of the hunts since 1885. We will scout for elks and other types of game. A tour of the Elk Hill Royal Hunt Museum and a snack is included in the price.
Cycling
A pleasant way of enjoying our region is by bicycle. Sweden’s national cycle paths meet here, and you can choose a package deal, organize your own tour, or maybe follow in Carl von Linnés footsteps. Rent a bicycle at the Tourist office.
Guided HikingTours in Ecopark
A nature hike through beautiful Ecopark Halle-Hunneberg will take you through magical forests, past spellbinding lakes, meadows and fantastic views. Together with our certified nature guide you are given the opportunity to discover the most unspoilt parts of the mountains. Guided Tours of the Locks Area
In summertime, you can take a guided tour through the locks area. The Innovatum Science Center will guide you through the history behind different segments of the locks and the people that built them.
Sailing
Vänersborg’s sailing club offers trial sailing trips, but you can also rent a boat for private trips along our fine coastline. Instructors are available.
Kayaking
Explore Lake Vänern’s shores by kayak. If you’re a beginner, you can take trial tours on Wednesday evenings from May to September, which start from Sanden in Vänersborg. You can also rent a kayak for your own trip.
